Sunny Moon East is a small artist-run business established in 2023. You will find here artworks created by Yasa and a selection of art supplies for Oriental style painting and calligraphy.
Art supplies are carefully selected for the artists of all levels, who want to practice their craft or focus on creating their next masterpiece.
THE ARTIST
Yasa is a Canadian artist based in Malta. She caught the bug of Oriental art early on. Studied ink painting and calligraphy in Canada and in China. Travelled extensively in Japan, took more classes, and made sketches on the streets of Kyoto and Tokyo. The delicate balance of Japanese aesthetics, immediately noticeable by a non-local, has been the main inspiration behind Yasa’s work. After friends and family have run out of walls to hang Yasa’s artworks, she decided to seek more space worldwide.
Yasa’s works are now enjoyed by art collectors in Malta, Italy, Austria, France, Spain, Switzerland, Netherlands, Estonia, Ukraine, United Kingdom, South Korea, Japan, United States, Canada, and the list is growing.
THE ARTWORKS
All artworks are sold mounted on another sheet of backing paper, so that you can frame them professionally or find a frame yourself.
Yasa is working with a variety of materials – bamboo pulp paper, both sized and unsized, hand-made papers from Japan and China, sized papers stretched over a wooden board and some old vintage Japanese paper. The Japanese papers, especially vintages, are exceedingly rare and expensive, and available only for commissioned work.
